hour. let's start with satellite/radar combined. clear skies overhead. some high clouds moving in overnight. clouds here by dawn. e stay dry tonight and dry for thmorning commute. so the morning commute not in jeopardy. it's the evening commute that we're worried about. i have often made fun of folks going to the store and buying bread, so we're going to make this the impact meter. remember carmageddon? that's a 10. a 5, two to four hours. a 3, one to two hours. i think this storm is going end up being a 1, because, quite frankly, it's a very small storm. the only reason it's on this scale at all is because of the timing. 16 gaithersburg, 1 in leesburg, 10 in manassas, 23 downtown. so wake-up weather, thickening

rule. it's basically the biggest roadblock that police have to solving cases, but just days after two teens in rival gangs ended up in a fight ending in a murder, people spoke up, and now two teens are behind bars for the murder of 16-year-old marcus jones. police are hoping that your calls and your anonymous tips will help them solve that last piece of the puzzle. we can all agree, alleged gang member or not, no one deserves to die. 16-year-old marcus jones went to a party saturday night, and whatever the dispute, was shot to death, thanks to tips and witnesses police arrested two teens. >> three people arrived at this party and approached a group. our victim, marcus jones, was standing with this group.

the suspect produced a firearm and shot. we believe that these gang associations played a part in this tragic murder. >> reporter: which begs the question, what are schools doing about this? jones is the fourth teen killed in the county this year. police say the gangs involved in this latest tragedy are called baby haiti and the danger boys. we asked michael blow, in charge of security in all prince george's county public schools. >> we're not be sieged with gang activity in our schools. our schools are say. but we are always looking to enhance our safety. we listen to the parents, and we listen to the students. >> reporter: add to that mentoring. he says he hopes someone will speak up. >> enough of this foolishness. we're bringing this information forward, and hopefully we will get the result that we saw today. >> reporter: police are describing the third suspect as a black male in his teens with a medium build. that's not a lot to go on, but if anyone out there knows

anything, police are hoping you will speak up and say something. all the information is on our website, wusa9.com. you could even text your tip or go on-line to submit it. live at prince george's county police headquarters, debra alfarone, wusa 9. a hoax has landed the university of virginia student in some hot water. brian hairston called the cops. he said he saw a gunman on campus. would you say expect the whole place was put on lockdown. but an hour later, hairston if he ised up. he just made the whole thing up. hairston, a sophomore psychology major. gun control advocates have taken the first step in trying to ban military-style assault weapons. victims of gun violence joined democratic lawmakers calling for the ban. the legislators say last month's school shooting in connecticut has given them new urgency. >> weak gun laws allow these

killings to be carried out again and again. >> senator dianne feinstein displayed 10 of the more than 150 assault weapons she wants banned. it would also outlaw ammunition magazines with more than 10 rounds. this ban goes further than the one expired in 2004. getting it to pass congress will be a very tall order. joe manchin worries congress has become too divided. >> it's almost guilt by conversation that i can't even sit down and have an open conversation and a dialogue without someone saying, well, you have changed. >> vice president joe biden supports a ban but during an on- line chat he says he is more concerned about banning high capacity mag scenes. president obama has nominated a former prosecutor, mary joe white. the president says she's got the toughness and experience

the dog probably saved the life of her housemate waking up her before she died of carbon monoxide poisoning. our gary nurenberg came back with dry shoes. >> reporter: kayla, eight years old, still moves like the devil but is described by christie williamson as -- >> part boston terrier, part angel. >> reporter: a neighbor left a car running for hours, filling her home with carbon monoxide. >> this is my baby girl, and she knew something was wrong. and she was trying to tell her mommy to wake up when she -- weren't you, baby. she saved my life and probably the life of many other people in my condo complex. >> reporter: kayla woke christie up. >> i know the answers i gave them, i kept thinking, oh my god, what's my address, how old

dining out this weekend? let's watch this week's food alert. >> hear tees dean of the disgusting, reporter russ ptacek. >> reporter: our first story started when one of my facebook followers wrote me complaining about a mouse and a roach. and people who didn't seem to care at a 7-eleven. i told her to call the health department. they shut it down. >> i've been coming here for 10 years now. >> reporter: this customer was angry, too, because clerks at the south capitol street 7- eleven weren't absing questions. >> can i see that? >> reporter: this clerk wouldn't stop moving that city card when i asked to see if he is certified ?roo. when you're playing with a card like this, i can't see the

expiration date, i can't see your name. >> reporter: inspectors reported rodent droppings on the floor and hot dorks hamburgers, and chicken wings at unsafe temperatures. around back, they cited a rat running under a pallet, and at the nacho display, a live roach. >> you've got to be serious here. you cook food, you be serious. people eat this stuff. >> reporter: we didn't get answers. >> we're actually looking for the store manager. >> reporter: they weren't answering questions at this checkers, either. >> she says they can't answer questions. >> reporter: inspectors closed the drive through for operating without any running water and ordered all food thrown out upon finding a sick off-duty employee in the back of the kitchen. at this neighboring little caesars, the same water main break shut off water there, too. inspectors closed them down for continuing to operate, and when we arrived, no one could show us a valid food safety training card. >> first i want to know who i'm

we're at day two. day three for below freezing. high of 29. right now, temperatures in the low 20s. this is downtown. dew point still 1. relative humidity inside your house is running 6 or 7%. the pressure pretty high but now beginning to fall at 30.53 inches of mercury. we showed you the impact meter at the top of the show. we're going show you the bread bread-0-meter now. on a scale of one to ten, a six or a five is a legitimate storm. two or three, plowable, sleddable. then a one on the bread-0- meter, and it's just a nuisance storm. so this will end up just like the impacts meter, a 1. but it is possible to have a legitimate storm or a plowable storm, 3 or 4, if it were to occur on the weekend that might end up being a 4 on the bread-0-

meter. how much snow? maybe an inch plus across most of the metro area. one system passes to our north, one system passes to our south. we kind vf leftovers. this is a clipper. it's already breaking out pretty good snow through minneapolis and chicago. we have another storm pulling out of the plains states. that's going to pass to our south. neither storm is going to really pick up and say, hey, i want to be the dominant storm so we're left in between the two storms, so nothing super heavy is going to occur. dry morning commute, light snow in the afternoon. probably 1, 2:00 from west to east. in the metro area light snow will slow the evening commute, no doubt. one to three inches possible by 8:00. inside the metro, probably more like an inch to two inches. overnight, 8 to 18, very cold, increasing high clouds. winds out of the northwest at 10. by morning, teens and 20s. light show is possible out

along the i-81 corridor. clouds in the metro. so a dry commute to work. but coming home, 26 to 30, cloudy and cold with light snow. one to three inches possible by 8:00. so the next three day, 9 weather alert has to be yellow tomorrow for your afternoon and evening snow. only 2. cool. cold on saturday, temperatures back in the low 30s. it's a clipper, reinforces our cold air. but then we start going up. upper 30s on sunday with sunshine. look at the thaw. 40s with showers on monday. 50s with showers on tuesday. rain on wednesday. still in the 50s. even thursday, okay, we get a little cooler, but we're not in the deep freeze. sunshine in the low 40s. >> that's better. >> january thaw. speaking of the ice, sir, our friends at the cap tolls, they're struggling. >> just like the wizards. >> don't say that. >> wait until you hear -- the
